What is the difference between individual, bulk, and site/lab licenses?

Individual Licenses to our apps are what individual customers visiting our website might purchase. This is usually directly for themselves but it can also be for example a parent buying for a child or a kind friend buying a gift for another. Once activated, individual licenses are permanently assigned to one person for life. This is great as it means that the individual can use the software for life without any additional upgrade or yearly subscription fees. However, it also means that the license or the activated strictly cannot and must not be transferred (given, sold, shared, etc) to any other individual, even if the license holder is nominally not using it any more. It's very generous and fair deal. For example, a teacher might gather their 20 students together to make a bulk purchase of one of our test preps that might be of value to each member in the class. At the end of the process, each individual will have their own individual license(s) to the product(s) in question - the licenses cannot be shared. When you purchase a site/lab license (the terms are synonymous), the software will be configured with a special login screen so that anybody who walks up to the computer can use the software and their personalized study progress, saved sessions, and more will follow them around no matter what computer they happen to sit down at and even if they happen to have their own personal copy of the same app on their personal device. Bulk Purchase Questions (General)

Where can I purchase Dauntless products in bulk? Please visit our Bulk Purchase Page (if you aren't there already!). The process is easy, fully automated and, for most payment methods, immediate. No paperwork, no hard sell, no "request for quotes." Just our best prices for our best-in-class products right there for you, right now. What do I get after I purchase? How is my order fulfilled? We offer a polished fulfillment system. After you make a bulk purchase and payment is received in full, you'll get a receipt via email. Look in the receipt where it says "Keycode" and you'll see a web address (URL). Simply copy and paste this address into a web browser and this will take you to your secure fulfillment portal. This is a site personalized for you where you can see and manage your bulk-purchased items. Here are some of the things you can do at the fulfillment portal: See the activation keycodes codes that you purchased. Keep track of how many have been used/registered by users already and how many you still have available for distribution to your students or customers. "Let people know" about individual keycodes. For example, if you have a student and you know his/her email address and (optionally) name, you can tell these to the system and the system will send that person a welcome email with the keycode and with instructions as to how to download, install, and activate the product in question. See all of your orders made under a given email address. Are bulk purchased products returnable? In order to ensure maximal fairness and consistency for all of our bulk purchasers, bulk purchased products are not returnable in whole or in part. Yes, in general the more products you buy from us at once can get you a larger quantity discount. The key to this is that this is a subscription product where iPhone/iPad, Android, and Mac are available as free apps for those with subscriptions to this. So, in that sense, you can buy Safelog subscriptions in bulk which then can be used via the apps for the platform of your choice. However, for other apps, probably not, unfortunately ... For our other apps, unfortunately for iOS, Mac, and Android it is not possible to buy apps in bulk, at least not directly from us. Generally speaking, purchasing apps via the iPhone/iPad, Mac, and Android app stores basically requires individual holders of accounts on those systems to log in and buy the apps themselves. This is due to policies set forth by Apple / Google / Amazon / etc. that we have no control over. Furthermore, we have no ability to even list bulk discount pricing or mechanisms - their app stores simply don't work that way, unfortunately. It would be great if we could sell apps for those platforms in bulk and we'll update our systems if things change, but as of now it is regrettably impossible. For Android, we suggest you do a google search for "google play gift an app." When we searched for this we found plenty of what appear to be useful links and ideas, but no official one from Google, so we aren't linking directly to this here. However, if you do this search, we think you may find some ideas. Additionally, perhaps your organization qualifies for certain managed/deployment programs Increasingly, we have heard that the large app stores might be making bulk purchase and app-assignment-to-individuals available to larger institutions. We do not always know exactly how it works as the details are very fluid year on year. For iOS (iPhone/iPad) and/or Mac, try doing a search for "Apple IT Zero Touch Deployment." For Google/Android, try "Managed Google Play" There may also be such schemes on Amazon and other app stores. These are ways for companies and organizations to buy apps for individuals associated with them - whether this is limited to employees / students / etc. we can't say, but it's worth a try. Additionally, larger educational institutions may have similar schemes for their students. In all cases, your first step may be to show this to your local IT support and see what they say or if they are aware of such a site deployment scheme where you qualify. Please note that we have no direct connection to the above initiatives. They are wholly managed by Apple / Google / etc. and they set all/any discounts, policies, procedures, etc. and you'd be paying them directly (and they would also deliver the apps to the individuals to receive them). We're on your side as much as we can be: Where the various third-party App Stores allow it and have such a box for us to tick indicating so, we ALWAYS mark our apps as potentially eligible for the largest possible discounts to bona fide educational intuitions. What this actually means in practice and how, if at all, this manifests in any actual discount available to you is, unfortunately, entirely out of our hands as that is managed by the individual app stores / app markets but we do that and hope that it can be of use to you. Order Fulfillment timelines (instant if you pay by card). Orders are fulfilled when payment is received in full. If you purchase via an 'instant' payment means such as credit or debit card, in most cases your order will be fulfilled instantly or nearly so (and, in the few times there are delays in such cases, they're usually caused by the issuing bank). Orders placed via other means may take longer: PayPal usually takes up to a working day or three as our merchant partners at ShareIt/Digital River/MyCommerce verify the payment and manually process your order. It is entirely up to you whether you want to accept returns from individual customers/students. We play no role in this. We won't mediate disputes or get involved in any way. However, what can say is this: if you go to your fulfillment console (that web address where you can see what keycodes you bought), you will be able to see whether any given keycode has been registered (permanently assigned to) an individual. If you go there and see that the code in question has not been used, then you are certainly welcome to refund your customer and re-issue the UNUSED code to somebody else (the person refunded of course has to promise to not to try to activate or use the code in any way further). For the avoidance of doubt, we need to make clear that the individual codes that we sell are for individuals. They may not be shared between multiple individuals, even when one individual is done with them. Any scheme where codes or activate software is inappropriately "shared" by more than one individual may constitute a criminal offense. For the benefit of our honest customers, both individuals and institutions, we reserve the right to seek criminal and civil legal recourse to the full extent of the law as necessary when intentional violations occur. We further reserve the right to cancel, without right of appeal, any and all activation codes / activated software associated with intentional violators of copyright. We're human: we'll certainly understand unintentional mistakes and will help clarify any questions about use and copyright that you may have. But, we are also a digital company - our digital products are our offerings so we are compelled look and act upon intentional violators strictly. Who handles technical and customer support for your students/clients? We at Dauntless will provide technical support via our online helpdesk (https://www.dauntless-soft.com/helpdesk) to any and all customers. We provide extensive self-help tools, frequently asked questions, automated responders, in addition to access team of support and subject matter expert professionals. We provide excellent support within reason and our helpdesk can solve most issues for most users promptly. If somebody to whom you have passed along a keycode has a technical support issue, please direct them to our online helpdesk. The main exception to this is customer support relating directly to their purchase or otherwise having obtained a keycode from you. For example, if John buys a keycode for our GroundSchool - FAA Private Pilot app for Windows PC and then it transpires that he doesn't even have a PC, then how you handle that is up to you. The most reasonable course in most cases we think would be to log in to your fulfillment portal, verify that the keycode has not been used, and then perhaps offer John a partial or total refund as you see fit. You could then distribute this unused keycode to another customer as required. We will play no role whatsoever in your policies in this regard - it's completely up to you. It may sound kind of silly but honestly our software works quite well - it has few to zero substantial genuine technical issues and those that we know of we fix promptly. A major issue - in fact, perhaps even the major issue we have is that some people simply don't know the difference between, say a Windows PC and and iPhone. We've seen this enough times that we've stopped being shocked about this - it is what it is. You can probably expect to encounter such people in your course of interaction with our keycodes. We very, very strongly encourage you to remember that essentially all or nearly all of our Windows PC software is available on a try before you buy basis. What this means is that any one of your potential customers is very strongly encouraged to visit our website, download the title in question in demo mode and see if it works technically for them and whether they like it. We are extremely happy when customers do this and we encourage them strongly to do so. Honestly, nearly all people who try our software love it and most end up buying it. Moreover, this process of try before you buy weeds out people with problem PCs, incompatible devices, and/or whose technical skills are extremely lacking to the point of it being problematic. It's a win-win for all involved. Please do encourage your potential customers to download the software in question from our website in demo mode before coming back to you to buy / get / obtain a keycode. The demo versions available on our website are transformed into the full versions by use of the keycode(s) and typically contain enough content to give the potential user a good taste of our complete offering.

B2B Purchase Questions: methods, purchase orders, tax, etc.

What payment methods do you accept? Orders are handled for us by Digital River / MyCommerce / ShareIt, a very reputable order-processing firm (think of them as an Amazon-equivalent but for digital products). They accept on our behalf several forms of payment, including credit and debt cards, wire transfers, purchase orders, and more. Go to the checkout page for an B2B purchase to see the exact methods available for your order as they may vary slightly by customer location and order size. Our European and North American customers usually have the widest range of purchase methods available. Please note that our B2B orders are fulfilled promptly (often automatically / electronically) when and only when they are paid in full. Paying by Purchase Order? Yes! You and/or your organization can pay for your B2B / site license / lab license purchase by purchase order. Payments are handled for us by MyCommerce / Digital River / ShareIT who offer "Purchase Order" as a checkout screen payment option. Please note that they may have specific requirements for purchase orders that they accept; please reference the documentation that they provide at the checkout process for more on this. W-9 form? Dauntless Aviation is proudly American. However, like many other providers of digital products, we use the services of a third-party (Digital River / MyCommerce / ShareIt) to securely process and fulfill orders for us. Digital River are the most trusted name in the space and reliably process tens of billions of dollars for year for companies such as ours while taking care of issues such as local tax collection, payment security, and so forth for us. It's a convenient and secure option for all involved, including, most importantly, for you the customer. What this means in practice is that you're buying from them, not from us - they act as a convenient intermediary for digital purchases, much like Amazon is for physical ones. Technically, they, not us, are the ones who sell you our products. In effect, they act as resellers for us. The shopping cart you see at the end of a bulk or site license purchase is a Digital River / MyCommerce / ShareIt shopping cart. If your purchasing department requires you to have a W-9 form, then you have two options: Give them Digital River GmbH's IRS form W-8BEN-E form (PDF) This is the best option and your purchasing department should be ok with that. To the best of our understanding. this is the holding company for their US operations. Need a purchase quotation? This is the fastest and most accurate quote we can give. Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee the prices on the "quote" for any length of time. We (the pilots and programmers of Dauntless) don't actually see customer credit card numbers or other financial data connnected to order and technically your purchase is from them, not from Dauntless. This works out well, since it allows us to concentrate our efforts on doing what we do best - making great apps and aviation products. myCommerce/ShareIt is part of Digital River Corporation, and together they process payments for thousands of online merchants, including some larger ones such as Symantec. Because of their size and scope, Digital River have offices in a number of US States and a few European countries. They collect tax/vat only in those locations where their physical presence or other laws require it. Digital River obviously has no motivation to charge you sales tax other than to comply with law, and they structure their businesses to the extent posssible to minimize this burden for themselves and our mutual customers. However, Digital River must comply with tax rules where required by law. This is why you may see sales tax applied to your order. You might not be liable for sales tax if you are able to pay with certain payment methods or from certain locations. For example, you might legally avoid paying tax/vat if you purchase using methods from a state or country where Digital River is not currently obligated to collect sales tax. Due to pressures from various tax authorities, it may not always be sufficient to simply have even a legitimate billing address outside of the domain in which you are being taxed. Some countries and regions compel our merchant partners are compelled to collect VAT or Tax even based on things such as IP address. Again, this is totally outside of our hands - please contact the merchant partners involved directly in this. It brings us no joy that you are taxed and of course we wish you weren't as it only increases your net costs. Where it is safe and legal to do so (the specifics likely vary country to country) you might be able to avoid this issue in some cases by using a 'remote access' system or VPN of some sort of make it appear that you are in a country other than you are currently in. We do not encourage the use of such systems where it is not lawful to do so, but in places where it is this may be an option for you. Short Answer: orders placed via "instant" electronic means, such as credit or debit card, are normally fulfilled essentially instantaneously and you have access to purchased products within minutes at most. Longer Answer: Orders are fulfilled (you will get your products electronically) only after MyCommerce/Digital River report to us that your purchase order has been fully paid and the money transferred to them. This policy is fixed under all circumstances--it's their policy, not ours, but it's also fairest for all involved. What this enables is a mode in the software where the students can listen to the questions and answers (and occasionally, a little commentary) being read by a human narrator. It can be a real turbo-boost to study as such listening can often be done passively, perhaps while doing other daily tasks. However, while it is popular and effective, it is purely optional. If you check the Audio checkbox next to a given GroundSchool FAA test prep product, the keycodes that will be generated for you will activate not just the basic software for the tests selected, but also the optional audio mode. If you do not buy this, the audio mode will be locked in the software (and any users will have the option to buy this themselves directly through us should they so choose). Make sure you view the video above or on that page. What's the difference between buying bundles vs individual test banks? To answer this question, let's look at a concrete example: buying a "2-test bank bundle" consisting of Private Pilot + IFR compared to buying Private Pilot and IFR individually as single test banks. Basically, if you buy the bundle, you'll get one keycode per bundle. So, if you buy 50 Private+IFR 2-test bank bundles, you'll get 50 codes. If you buy 50 Private and 50 IFR individually, you'll get 100. The main advantages of the bundle way is price and simplicity. With regards to price, bundles generally work out a bit cheaper than buying the titles individually. With regards to simplicity, if you have a student or customer that you know will need to study for both the Private and IFR (in this example), you just give them one code and you're done. We particularly recommend that Mechanic/AMT schools who generally know that their students will need to take all 3 of the General, Airframe, and Powerplant tests purchase bundles ("Mechanic Bundles"). The downside to bundles is a little less flexibility. For example, if a student gets the private + IFR as a bundle and activates the keycode for this bundle for themselves, this will be permanently assigned to them - there will be no way to recover the IFR portion and assigns it to somebody else should that student not proceed past private pilot. The advantage of the individual test banks is flexibility - you give exactly the codes to whoever needs them. The downside of this, in addition to a generally slightly higher price, is potentially a bit more work at your part as you'll need to manage more codes.
