GroundSchool FAA knowledge test prep is available for Windows PCs, Apple Macs, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
No matter which platform you choose, the GroundSchool learning content is the same. We make content updates available across our supported platform versions at the same time, so you are not choosing between different question banks or different levels of preparation.
The interface and available features are also broadly similar, although each version of GroundSchool is naturally adapted to the capabilities and conventions of the device on which it runs. A Windows PC, an iPhone, a Mac, and an Android tablet are different types of devices, so the apps do not look or behave identically.
There is no single "best" GroundSchool platform. They are all designed to provide excellent FAA test preparation. The best choice is simply the platform that fits the way you prefer to study.
Some customers prefer studying at a larger computer screen. Others appreciate being able to study anywhere using a phone or tablet. Some purchase GroundSchool on more than one platform so that their test preparation is conveniently available in different places and on different devices.
Please note, however, that each platform version is sold separately. Purchases made through Apple, Google, and other platform-specific stores cannot generally be transferred between completely different app-store ecosystems.
Bundle availability can also vary by platform. Apple, Google, Amazon, and other distribution platforms have their own rules and technical limitations, so we cannot necessarily offer exactly the same purchasing or bundle options on every device.

It is vitally important that, as soon as you install GroundSchool,
the very first thing you do is start the app and select "Check for Updates" (or the equivalent option) from the main menu.
This updates your learning content to the latest available version. It is particularly important for mobile versions of the app. Our editorial team continuously reviews and updates GroundSchool throughout 2026, 2027, and beyond, so check for updates regularly while you study.
